buying a for sale by owner home

While most homes are sold by a real estate agent,
there are many homes sold by owner for various
reasons. When shopping for home remember that
Realtors are here to protect buyers and sellers
during the home buying transaction. Many sellers
feel they can save money by going without paying
a Realtor.  This sounds like a good idea for the
sellers wallet but can lead to some heart ache
during and after the transaction for both parties.

Realtors sell homes on a regular basis and are
required to maintain a consistent level of real
estate education on a constant basis.  This
education allows Realtors to represent buyers and
seller with confidence in eliminating  time
consuming and costly mistakes by both parties.
Further if you are the victim of a mistake or error
on the part of your agent you have protection by
the Real Estate Recovery trust Account. This fund
is not available to you without a Realtor on your
    side.

This does not mean you can not purchase a home
FSBO, if you are represented by a Realtor.  A
seasoned Realtor can negotiate getting his or her
commission from the seller for you.  Be sure to ask
a Realtor if they are comfortable with this option
    before shopping for a home.
